Obama vs. Hillary...again.

“I'm in this race for the same reason that I fought for jobs for the jobless and hope for the hopeless on the streets of Chicago; for the same reason I fought for justice and equality as a civil rights lawyer; for the same reason that I fought for Illinois families for over a decade… That's why I'm running, Democrats — to keep the American Dream alive for those who still hunger for opportunity, who still thirst for equality.”

— Barack Obama, Speech in Des Moines, IA, November 10, 2007

I am super busy with school and just life (hence the lack of blogging). I have a test in my Social Work Policy class Tuesday so I have been learning all about the TANF welfare program that Clinton put in place of the old welfare policy AFDC. I am not a fan of the new TANF it makes welfare recipients work more which some would say is good but then you have the issues of childcare and also it put a time limit of 5 years in one's life time which just doesn't set well with me. Anyways my whole point is to see what you think about the new Clinton and her views on poverty verse Obama. Obama clearly states some of things on his website. Let me know what you think.

Also how do you feel about Obama running with Gore? Think it will happen??

When i worked for the state, they had just changed the department name from Dept. of Public Aid to Healthcare and Family Services. The idea for this was to try to lessen the stigma one faces for getting help from the government to pay their medical bills (specific example to your post).

Overall, I like Hillary's view that healthcare is a basic service everyone should have access to just like working lights and water. I think HRC's plan is more feasible in that she has a solid way to fund it where as Obama doesn't seem to. Not bashing Obama this time. Just saying.
